Income and filing status
Verified official rates only.
Filing status determines the SSA schedule.
Tax year 2024: Form 1040 line 11. Use AGI before deductions.
Form 1040 line 2a, usually municipal bond interest. Added to AGI for IRMAA.
Income help and sliders
Use AGI before standard, itemized or Schedule 1-A senior deductions. Those below-AGI deductions do not lower Medicare MAGI. Do not subtract a QCD twice if your return already excludes it.
The slider covers $0 to $600,000 and gives more travel near published thresholds. Use the field for negative or larger amounts. Arrow keys adjust; Shift+Arrow moves farther.
AGI + tax-exempt interest. This is the income measure used for IRMAA, not taxable income.
Medicare coverage
Your coverage
Parts B + DDoctor visits, outpatient care, and other Part B services. The standard premium and any IRMAA are charged only in active months.
Part B months: Full year (Jan–Dec)
Prescription drug coverage. Part D IRMAA is a statutory surcharge, separate from the plan premium.
Part D months: Full year (Jan–Dec)
The monthly amount from the plan itself, not IRMAA. Leave blank if you do not know it; IRMAA is still calculated, but the total Part D cost is marked incomplete.
A spouse can be included for joint or separate married returns.
Move MAGI to a cliff
Using a preset locks this threshold so you can compare below, at, and above the same boundary. Choose “Follow the next cliff” to resume automatic navigation.
Explore the published cliff at $137,000. Your tax-exempt interest stays unchanged; only AGI moves.
Your 2026 IRMAA result
$1,148.40
per year under the coverage assumptions belowPart D total incomplete. The Part D IRMAA is included, but no plan premium was entered. Known annual cost so far: $3,583.20.
Part D plan premium not included
The Part D IRMAA surcharge is calculated, but the complete Part D cost is incomplete because no plan premium was entered. The national base beneficiary premium is a statutory benchmark, not a substitute for your plan premium.
Distance to the next IRMAA cliff
$17,000.00 separates MAGI from the next known threshold.
The next tier starts at $137,000.01. You can add at most $17,000.00 without changing tiers.
Annual IRMAA by MAGI
Each step is a published surcharge band. The line does not interpolate between tiers, and the annual amount reflects your selected coverage and beneficiaries.
On narrow screens, scroll the chart horizontally. The tier table below provides the same values in text form.

Assumptions, method, and sources
Official 2026 pack · revision 2026-official-v1 · sources verified October 23, 2026 · published November 14, 2025
Assumptions and limitations
- Uses the official 2026 CMS/SSA schedule (revision 2026-official-v1). No future-year rates are projected.
- Part D IRMAA is a statutory surcharge. It is not a Part D plan premium and does not replace one.
- Part B and Part D coverage are calculated independently, month by month.
- This result covers one beneficiary. A spouse's separate assessment is included only when explicitly added for a married return.
- No late-enrollment penalties, Medicare Advantage reductions, plan changes, or state taxes are modeled in this calculator.
- Actual SSA determinations, plan premiums, and future published rates control. This is planning information, not an SSA decision.
